Political strategist Alberto Lage and psychologist Iracema Rezende wrote their book to explore the emotional pressures that shape how candidates campaign, how leaders lead, and how people make decisions under stress.
“Inside the Candidate’s Head: The Psychology of Running for Office – Lessons from Brazil’s Campaign Trenches” is now available in English. The book first topped Amazon Brazil’s bestseller charts before a Spanish-language edition carried it into Latin America and Spain.
Lage and Rezende released the original under the title “Cabeça de Candidato” in Portuguese in September 2025. It rose to the top of Amazon Brazil’s rankings in Elections, Politics, and Social Sciences. Readers worldwide can now buy the English edition in Kindle, paperback, and hardcover formats through Amazon and the official website at insidethecandidateshead.com.
The Spanish edition, “Cabeza de Candidato: Dentro de la mente del poder | Lecciones de campañas en Brasil”, was translated by Marcus Vinicius Baldo, co-founder of Compol Brasil. Political scientist Felipe Nunes contributed the preface to the Brazilian edition. Paulo Carlos López-López, Professor of Political Science at the University of Santiago de Compostela and spokesperson for Sumar Galicia, part of Spain’s governing coalition, wrote the foreword for the translated editions.
